The Hand of Fatima, also called the Hamsa Hand, is an ancient Islamic symbol which some believe dates back to beyond ancient Egypt. It is a symbol of power and protection from negative forces on both the physical and spiritual planes against the "evil eye." According to medieval manuscripts (Webster, 2004) The Hand of Fatima was also considered an oracle used for a type of character analysis and for divination of the future.
How to Use the Hand of Fatima
By clicking on the picture of The Hand of Fatima beneath this article to enlarge it, you will see blocks of letters and numbers. You will use these letters and numbers to do your character analysis and divination.
On a sheet of paper, write out your first and last name in a column down the left side of your paper. Go back to the picture of The Hand of Fatima and find the first letter of your name. Write the number beneath that letter on the hand next to that letter in your name. Do this for each of the letters in your name. Once you have all the numbers for your name, add them together to get a total sum.
Some Examples
For example, let us use the name Sarah Seymour. The total sum of the letters in this name adds up to 1,034. To interpret the meaning of the name, the total must be broken down to 1,000, then 30, then 4. Now, you can look at the meanings for this name found below.
The first number of 1,000 shows that Sarah will achieve ultimate success in her life and the number 30 shows she will have a successful and happy marriage. Number 4 tells you that is it the application of power and knowledge which will lead her to such a successful outcome.
In another example, my own name adds up to 725. When I break this down, I get 700, 20, and 5. According to the number meanings, I have moral fiber, strength and vitality which will be greatly needed as there will be disappointment and tears. If I do not give up, I will eventually attain love, wealth and happiness.
