Backward speech can be used to find answers from within yourself for the many questions life brings your way.

As humans, we are always looking for answers concerning ourselves, life, the universe, spirituality; the questions are endless. For most, the answers are not forthcoming, mainly due to not knowing how to find the answers. Backward speech offers an opportunity to find the messages from within to answer those questions that elude us.

How It Began

I discovered backward speech when editing an MP3 interview my husband did with a woman from England. I was going through it in my sound program when I accidentally reversed a small section of the interview. What I heard were words being spoken in the backward speech.

I was able to isolate a conversation being held in the backward speech, which was much different than the conversation in the forward speech of the interview. This led me to do some experiments of recording short personal questions, then playing them backward to listen to the response. The answers to my questions were in the backward speech.

For the last five years, I have been using backward speech with clients and the results they receive are very informative. Once they discover what backward speech can offer them, they are very open to the messages from within which allows for even greater results.

Recording Your Backward Speech

The process of recording is not complicated. It takes a recording program, which Audacity offers for free, and an external microphone for clear recording. Once you have these items, you need a question. To start, your question should be something simple, such as "Should I change jobs at this time?" or "I think my cat is sick. Should I take him to the vet?" As you get more versed in using backward speech, you can record longer questions. Record your question, speaking naturally. Do not overemphasize your words as this will skew the results you receive. Make sure to save your recording also as you do not want to lose it while you are working with it.

After recording and saving your question, it is time to reverse it. You must highlight the entire sound wave or you will be unable to access the reverse effect. In Audacity, reverse is found under effects.

Training Your Ear

Training your ear is the most challenging part of using backward speech, however, with a bit of practice, you will find it becomes much easier to decipher what you are hearing.

Start by listening to the entire recording backward. It will sound as though you are speaking a foreign language and you might think there could not possibly be a message within it as it just sounds like garbled nonsense. Once you decipher the words, you will hear the message so clearly that you will not understand how you could not hear it right away.

In your first listen, you may hear a word or two that you recognize; however, do not stop there. You need to decipher the entire backward recording. Take a small portion of the recording and highlight it. Listen to this section carefully, open up your mind, and you will begin hearing the words. It is much like deciphering a code. If you need to, you can slow down the speech to hear it more clearly. This is useful at times, but understand that it can change the sound of the words a bit. Write down what you are hearing and move onto the next small section. Continue in this way until you have deciphered the entire backward recording.

When you are finished, play back the recording while reading what you have written. You will instantly hear the message in the words and it will no longer sound foreign.

Tips from Experience

Women tend to be more cryptic in their backward speech than men. A backward sentence for a woman may be "There are many rocks in your backyard," while a man's backward sentence might say, "You have had a lot of troubles in your life." Both mean the same thing, but the man's is much easier to understand.

Your inner message from the backward recording may not be related to the question you asked. When this happens, it is due to your subconscious mind or higher self believing there is a matter more important to you at the current time which must be known.

If you get stuck on a word, move on. Once you have the rest of the message, you will catch the word upon listening to the entire recording again. Be patient and listen as many times as necessary to decipher your message.

Using backward speech can give you messages from within yourself to questions you may have had for a long time. Have fun with it and enjoy the knowledge your subconscious mind or higher self offers you.
